HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR CANDLES…
1. Store your candles in a cool dry dark place. This helps keep the fragrance and saves them from fading
2. Make sure all packaging has been removed before burning
3. Place candle on / or in a holder. Or place on a heat resistant surface
4. Do not leave burning candles unattended
5. Keep burning candles out of the reach of children and pets
6. Drip-less candles are still susceptible to some dripping when in a drafty area so take same precautions as with ‘other’ types of candles
7. Candles burning in drafts cause the flame to flicker and smoke and burn unevenly. Rotate candle frequently to correct the problem
8. Always cut the wick to ¼” before lighting a candle - new or previously lit, so the candle won’t flicker or release soot
9. Remove any debris from the pool of wax around the wick – this could be a fire hazard
10. If the wick breaks off, simply carve out enough wax to show another ¼ “ of wick
11. Buy candles with wicks made from cotton or zinc cores only. Candles with lead - core wicks cause pollution
12. Extinguish flames by blowing them out gently or use a snuffer so you don’t splatter liquid wax. Hot wax can burn your skin or damage fabrics and furniture
13. When candles burn down to ¼” extinguish the flame, let them cool down and then throw away. Otherwise you risk damaging the surface below
14. Allow candles to cool between uses
15. If candle is burning off center and unevenly, extinguish flame and move wick to center with a metal knife while wax is soft. Let harden before relighting the candle
16. Don’t place a colored or fragrant candle directly on furnishings. You risk surface damage
17. Burn large pillars and jar candles for at least 3 hours at a time to ensure even burning
18. On 3 wick candles, keep all 3 wicks pointed toward the center. Gently ‘hug’ the soft wax around the well to maintain a flat surface
19. In jar candles, do not allow the flame to touch the side of the jar, which can cause it to become hot and crack
20. Always burn unscented candles when dining, so fragrance doesn’t interfere with the foods flavor (s)
21. Keep candles at least 2” apart. Otherwise, their combined heat will affect each other’s burning quality
22. Gently wipe candles with a soft cloth moistened with a few drops of mineral oil to keep the sheen of the candle
You can also rub them gently with fine-mesh nylons to heighten the gloss and remove scratches
All that’s good
