What are DECO Gems?

DECO Gems are a type of water absorbent polymer that absorbs, stores and then releases water and nutrients needed for growing plants.

How do DECO Gems work?

Add contents of package to at least one liter of water per 10 grams of AquaGems and watch them grow.  Allow to stand for 4 to 6 hours.  Drain off excess water and use as desired.

How big are DECO Gems?

When dehydrated they measure about 1/10^thof an inch (about the size of a pin head).  Once they are hydrated they become about 3/8^thof an inch to 1/2 inch in size (more like a marble).

Will DECO Gems stain my clothing, furniture or carpet?

No.  DECO Gems are COLOR FAST.  This means when they dehydrate the color stays with the gem and will not stain, nor will it discolor the water, the water remains clear.

Can I use more than one color of DECO Gems together? 

Yes.  This is why DECO Gems are so incredible!  Since they are COLOR FAST, you can mix them together in the same container or layer them, color on color.

Do Aqua Gems dehydrate once they are hydrated? 

Yes.  AquaGems are completely reusable, as they lose water, simply add more water or spray them with water.

How do I use DECO Gems with fresh cut flowers?

Once you have hydrated your DECO Gems, if they are not already hydrated, drain off the excess water and leave enough to cover the cut end of the flower.  Before adding flowers, cut an additional ˝ inch off the end.  Fresh cut helps the flowers to drink more effectively.

How do I use DECO Gems with my plants?

DECO Gems can be used as a soil substitute.  For plants like orchids, that need less water, drain off excess water.  For plants that need excess water, allow more water to remain when draining.  Clear water-soluble nutrients can be added with good effects. 

Do I have to add water to the DECO Gems once they are hydrated?

Yes, like regular soil, the available water will reduce as it evaporates and the AquaGems begin to dehydrate.  Some plants, like roses, need an abundance of water.  For best results with plant that need a lot of water, add water occasionally so that you can see free standing water in the AquaGems to just below the root line.

Are DECO Gems non-toxic?

Yes.  DECO Gems are non-toxic, completely biodegradable and environmentally safe.  Although, AquaGems are non-toxic, we suggest keeping them out of reach of children and pets, it may present a choking hazard if swallowed.

Are DECO Gems scented?

No, not yet.  However, you can add water-soluble, plant-safe fragrances for lasting air freshness.

What else can I do with DECO Gems?

In addition to fresh cut flowers and plants, there are many other uses, be creative and let your mind go.  They look great alone, as an intriguing focal point and can be used along with candles, as well.

They look like glass marbles, what makes DECO Gems so different?

DECO Gems do look similar to glass marbles used in vases, however, their function goes above and beyond that of glass marbles when designing floral arrangements.  First, and foremost, they weigh so much less than glass marbles.  Second, flowers can easily be added after the DECO Gems are in the vase without breaking or damaging fragile floral stems.  Third, DECO Gems help hold the stems in place, making it easier to get your arrangements finished quicker, thus getting them out to your customer more quickly.  Fourth, your arrangements will last longer even if your customer forgets to add water to the vase once you have delivered it.  In addition, your customer can also reuse the DECO Gems once the arrangement is gone.  Plus, DECO Gems FEEL incredible, you won’t be able to keep your hands out of them!  AND…they bounce!
